Vehicle: 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 4WD, V6-3.6L, Automatic Transmission/Transaxle
Mileage: 168,502
Problem: Customer states that they were driving the vehicle, and when they stopped, the transmission defaulted to PARK. They shut the engine off and it never cranked over again.
Case Details: The tech connected a scan tool and retrieved two diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs):
- U11C2 - Implausible/Missing Transmission Message
- U0101 - Lost Communication with TCM
An ALLDATA Tech-Assist consultant suggested checking power and ground at the transmission control module (TCM). Following the consultant’s advice, the tech found that the power was erratic on the yellow/red (YEL/RED) wire at the TCM, so he checked the TCM fuse 60 in the power distribution center (PDC). NOTE: The PDC is in the engine compartment near the battery. The fuse had full battery voltage on both sides. The tech decided to pull the fuse anyway to get a closer look at the fuse and the PDC terminals. The fuse looked a little burned, but the PDC fuse terminals were clean and tight.
Confirmed Repair: He installed a new fuse and cleared the DTCs. The Jeep cranked and ran normally with no further issues. Easy Fix!
